Legal Accounts & Office Manager
We are looking to recruit a Legal Accounts & Office Manager for a permanent opportunity with a leading law firm based in Romford.
They are looking to recruit an experienced Head Legal Cashier to manage their accounts department and office administration. The candidate must be experienced in using LEAP case management and XERO accounting.
The candidate needs to be naturally enthusiastic, committed and keen to contribute to the growth of the firm.
The firm are a Lexcel accredited practice with an excellent reputation, having been established for over 65 years and they have 3 offices. They act for a wide range of commercial and private sector clients with an extremely busy property department.
Finance is a vital function of the firm, ensuring smooth business operations and high standard of services to both internal and external clients. This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly team in a progressive practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the firms Legal Cashier processes and controls in line with SRA accounts rules.
The role
• Manage the day to day running of the cashiering function adhering to the firm’s policies and procedures whilst ensuring compliance with SRA regulations
• Proactively manage the cashier team ensuring that they are motivated, trained and able to carry out effectively and efficiently the daily, weekly and monthly tasks they are responsible for.
• Ensure that the team is sufficiently skilled to cover for each other during holidays and sickness
• To oversee and undertake daily banking functions including bank reconciliations and operation of online banking facilities.
• The processing of client and office accounting transactions including all postings onto LEAP and Xero
• Checking of all residential and commercial conveyancing completion statements and financial checklists.
• The input and payment of faster and CHAPS and international payments.
• The processing of client bills to include checking and posting.
• Managing all month end procedures with the production of month end reports
• Processing of travel and other expenses and purchase ledger system
• Supervising and managing our annual SRA Audit and Lexcel inspections.
• Supervising, file closing and aged client balances.
• Ensure client receipts and payments are processed in an accurate and timely manner
• Ensure that the telegraphic transfers, foreign payments and BACS payments are processed in line with associated authentication procedures
• Ensure full compliance with the SRA accounts rules and dealing with residual balances and client closures
• Manage the client to office transfers in line with the SRA Accounts Rules
• Ensure all policies and procedures are documented and kept up to date
• Report to Directors and provide reports as required for the everyday function of the practice
• Drive continuous improvements across the function, being pro-active for positive change
The Candidate
• Experience in LEAP Case Management essential
• Experience in XERO accounting essential

Experience Required
• At least 2 years experience in LEAP Case Management Software and Xero accounting
• A clear and full understanding of SRA accounting principles.
• Managing a team of individuals
• Management of SRA Audits and compliance procedures
• Office management to include file closure, Will Bank and Document Registers
• Knowledge of computers and software with good keyboard skills.
• Practical experience of handling client enquiries
